Obie Iyoha ‘Anime & Chill’

Mastered By: Ell

“Formerly a member of the iconoclastic hip hop collective known as The Black Opera, Obie Iyoha is now a solo artist whose debut album Midnight Run dropped last year. Iyoha is also a visual artist who designs all his own graphics, drawing inspiration from anime films like Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Note (which recently hit Netflix, perhaps inspiring today’s premiere?)

Today MASS APPEAL brings you the video for “Anime & Chill,” Obie’s first offering since that release. The video follows the Nigerian-American artist through his hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan as he drops bars over an Erik Rico production.

“I really just wanted to give the people an honest representation of myself,” says Obie. “I’ve been working really hard on new music and I’m super excited to share it with you guys, but first I wanted you to get to know me a little more. I’m from Ann Arbor, Michigan. My parents are both Nigerian so soccer is a huge part of my life (peep the jersey). I love anime, I’m goofy and I really love cheese pizza. So I thought why not have my introduction showcase these things? I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.” Check the visuals up top.”
